GoDaddy “Hacked”

According to a CNET, GoDaddy was attacked today, causing widespread outages for customers utilizing GoDaddy’s web hosting and email services.  Websites currently using GoDaddy’s web hosting services, are down.

A lone attacker has claimed responsibility for the outage:

GoDaddy has confirmed the outage via their Twitter page:

GoDaddy’s site is up and then down again every few minutes…

GoDaddy Down

For hosting consignment websites, we strongly recommend HostDime.  For domain registration, we recommend NameCheap.  For email, we recommend Google Apps.  We have delayed transferring our domain (thecomputerpeeps.com) over to to NameCheap long enough and only because talking to GoDaddy is a time-suck.

We have seen a variety of issues with GoDaddy’s hosting in the past, from website performance, to website availability issues; to blank email messages and emails getting marked as spam.  We just cannot recommend GoDaddy’s web hosting or email services.

As always, if anyone has any questions, let us know!

I am a Software Developer, System Administrator, and consignment software specialist. I currently manage hundreds of consignment workstations, point of sale systems, and database servers all across North America and I am the developer of Peeps' Software, Peeps2Go, and Peeps' Consignor Login for iOS and Android. I've been helping consignment & resale store-owners since 2003. I started The Computer Peeps in February of 2010. Peeps' Software launched in 2016 and is now on hundreds of systems all across North America. I have successfully converted dozens of stores from all of the major consignment software systems. After 20 years of working with consignment stores, I understand the unique challenges consignment & resale store-owners face. From electrical issues in old buildings or strip malls, to advocating for them when their old consignment software keeps crashing.
