Documents/Printouts for Store
Introducing Peeps' Document Manager!  You can now create custom printouts with color, formatting, and automatic merging of details such as an account's first/last name, item count, total owed, total points, total sales, etc.

To create new Documents, head to Settings > Store > More -- you'll find the new Document Manager button.

To print these Documents within an account, head to More > Printouts and select Documents.

You can also print these from the Reports tab, by clicking the Documents button.

These documents are centrally stored, so you can create, edit, and print them from any computer running Peeps on your network!  So no need to worry about backing-up these documents separately, or not being able to access them from certain workstations.

Uses for Peeps' Document Manager:

• 'Closing letter' for accounts that are being closed.
• 'Rejection' letter for items.
• Account overview.

You have some additional options too, such as whether or not to show the Page # on each page, whether or not to view vs. print, and whether or not to show the Title of the Document.

There's an all-new 'Quick Quote' system for our buy outright stores!

You can now quickly generate + print-out an offer before entering items for a buy.  To start a Quick Quote, click the BOR Calculator on the Inventory screen and click Quick Quote.

Some notes about this new feature:

• You can add/remove items from the Quote
• It'll show a total count of items + the total Offer as you enter
• Clicking print will generate an Offer receipt, which is designed to go to your Point of Sale Receipt Printer

You can now create your own, custom, barcoded Gift Certificates!  We've built a new Peeps' Gift Certifcate Maker!

This system is available for-use, for any store on Peeps' Support.

These Gift Certificates even work with our competitors' programs!

You can customize a variety of options:

• Store logo
• Color
• Font
• Gift Certificate name -- e.g. 'Penny's Pennies'
• Whether or not a barcode will print or not
• A ton more!

These are designed to print on a 3-up, 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper.  There is inexpensive gift certificate stock available on Amazon, which is pre-perforated, or, you can just cut the gift certificates by hand.  :)

Track 'Last Updated' Date/Time for Email Settings
The Email Settings screen now shows/tracks the last time your email settings were updated.

Thus-far, this hasn't been an issue in Peeps, since Peeps proactively tells you when you try to send an email, if your settings aren't valid.

But something I've seen with a lot of other stores and other programs, is *something changed* (or didn't change) and they're not sure why emails aren't working.

So I figured by storing the last updated date/time, it would help show any issues @ "settings were changed yesterday."

Allow Users/Employees to Change Their Own Password
There's a new option that allows users to change their own password!  By default, this is off/disabled.  I feel in most situations, if an employee needs/wants to change their password, the owner/manager can bring up the change password screen and let them change their password.  This helps prevent 'I forgot my password!' issues.  :)

If you'd like to allow users to change their own password, there's a new check-box on the Users & Security screen that lets you enable this.

Once enabled, they'll see a red 'Change Password' button next to their username at the top of the Main form.

Bulk Status Items
The all-new 'Bulk Status Items' system is here!  This allows you to change the Status of multiple items, in one shot.

You can filter based on Account ID and items' Date Added.

There are a LOT of handy features built-in to this system, including:

• When choosing 'Donated' as the Status, Peeps automatically excludes items that are set to Donate = No.
• You can print the list of items you're about to Status.
• You can selectively remove individual items or a range of items from the list, before proceeding.
• You can choose how to handle multi-Quantity items -- i.e. reduce the entire Quantity to 0, or just reduce the Quantity by 1.

There are also a LOT of safety nets built-in to this system, including:

• Before viewing the Bulk Status Items screen, you're alerted and asked to confirm before proceeding -- changing the status of hundreds/thousands of items, can create issues.  :)
• When clicking 'Go', you're asked to confirm before proceeding.  If you click 'Yes', you're asked one last time to confirm before proceeding -- giving you plenty of time to bail-out.  :)
• Even though you're heavily-prompted A) before getting to this screen and B) before proceeding with the Status changes, Peeps also automatically writes-out a *secret* file (.CSV) that contains a list of every item that was Statused.  ;)

Split Based on Age of Item, or Selling Price of Item
I'm proud to announce what is essentially the last, 'big thing' to add to the software -- custom Splits based on *EITHER* the selling price of the item, or the age of the item.

Splits & Terms can now be set to one of the following:

• Normal
• Price
• Date

The Normal Split is the one that's been there all along and is what most stores would utilize -- e.g. 50/50, 60/40, etc.

The new Price Split, is based on the selling price of the item.  You can add as many 'tiers' as you need and when the item sells, the consignor's split will be based on the price range outlined in your terms.

The new Date Split, is based on the age (days old) of the item.  You can add as many 'tiers' as you need and when the item sells, the consignor's split will be based on the days-old range outlined in your terms.

I still don't think this type of Split is beneficial to stores -- it over-complicates things and consignors like to see simple terms @ "You get 40% when it sells, items older than 90 days become store property."  Nonetheless, this is one of the final 'big' pieces to add, to ensure Peeps' Software can literally handle *any* possible split option.  :)

Digital Signature When Paying With Store Credit
Signature capture for Store Credit payments is here!  For stores on BluePay with signature capture PIN Pads OR stores with a Peeps' Signature Pad (no credit card processor required!), you can now use that to collect signatures when a shopper uses Store Credit.

This helps *prove* a shopper did in fact pay with their Store Credit (even though the history on their account reflects this).

BluePay -- To enable Signature Capture for Store Credit, head to Settings > Point of Sale > Credit Cards and check the 'Store Credit' box.

Peeps' Signature Pad -- To enable Signature Capture for Store Credit, head to Settings > Point of Sale > More... and check the 'Store Credit Signature Capture' box.

If a signature is captured, you can view it within their account by right-clicking the History entry for their Store Credit Payment.

Digital Signature On Cash Payouts
Signature capture for Cash Payouts is here!  For stores utilizing BluePay or X-Charge with a signature capture PIN Pad, you can now capture signatures when cutting Cash Payouts!

You can choose to capture the signature during the payout process itself, or after the payout has already completed, by viewing the payout.

If you have BluePay or X-Charge already enabled, you'll see a new 'Collect Signature' checkbox when cutting payouts.  This is un-checked by default, but once you check it, it'll remain checked from here on out (unless un-checked again).

Option To Enable/Disable Peeps' Built-in 'NumLock' Check
Peeps is the only software that proactively checks to see if your 'NumLock' key is on and alerts you if it's off -- we've seen just how many times a support call has come in over the years, saying "I can't type prices!!!"  ;)

On some systems though -- e.g. compact laptops -- they don't have a NumLock key/keypad on the right.  So we've made this check optional, so it can be disabled for those running Peeps on a compact laptop.

You can disable this under Settings > Point of Sale > More.

'Aged Accounts' View Includes Accounts Owed $0.00, but Have Unpaid History Entries
I've improved the query/logic behind the 'Aged Accounts' notification!

Previously, it would include accounts who were owed $0.00, but the History entries for these hadn't been paid -- e.g. they earned $5.00 from a sold item, used -$5.00 as Store Credit.  Thus, they never got 'paid' for these entries, thus, would show up in this query.  There was nothing to be paid, but since their history entries were unpaid, they showed-up in the query.

You can also print this after the initial pop-up that appears when loading the software, via Reports > Accounts > Aged Accounts.

On a technical note, instead of loading this on 'FormLoad', I've moved it to a Timer which 'ticks' 1.8 seconds after the main form loads.  :)

Make 'Numlock' Check An Option
Peeps' is the ONLY software on the market, that checks to see if your 'NumLock' key is on.  Why?  Because if your NumLock key is off on your keyboard, you can't type numbers...which means you can't type prices (e.g. when adding inventory, ringing-up sales, etc.)

However, on some computers -- e.g. laptops -- the NumLock might never be on, if they do not have a KeyPad on the right-hand side of the keyboard.

So for these unique situations, we've made this proactive prevention system, something those using laptops can turn-off.  :)  You can turn this off under Settings > Point of Sale > More.

Move Sales Receipts Out of Reports Library (Slow Printing)
Point of Sale sales receipts have been moved out of the 'reports library' and into a much, much faster engine!

Where utilizing the reports library made for easy printouts, it takes a while for reports to compile and then print.  For sales receipts -- especially with stores that have a lot of sales records -- this can compound and lead to really slow receipt printing.

Moving it into a hand-coded, native .NET printing function, has resolved this issue!

In addition to printing much faster, there are also a slew of new enhancements to sales receipts!

• Employee is now displayed (optional)
• Station is now displayed (optional)
• You can choose whether or not to show your store name text (e.g. if you're using your store logo and it already has your name in it)
• You can control the store name font and size
• You can change the 'label' for Employee, Station and Sale ID
• You can adjust the 'padding' (space between) your store logo and store name/info
• You can choose to show a scanable Barcode at the bottom of the receipt (which can be scanned-in to the Search Sales screen to lookup a sale)
• Fine Tuning -- This reveals options that let you control the 'detail' font size (each line item in the sale), the 'cut-off' length (i.e. the length of an item description before it will be shortened), the length at which the ellipses (...) will appear at the end, and lastly, 'Proper Case' (i.e. whether or not Item Descriptions will be forced to proper case or left as-is (e.g. all caps or not).  These options help accomidate the variety of store inventory descriptions, providing an extremely flexible way to customize receipts for any type of store.

These options can be controlled via Settings > Point of Sale > Advanced.

If Item Expires While On Layaway, Options To Handle If It Should Really Expire
If an item is put on Layaway and remains on Layaway after when the item Expires, when it finally sells, the consignor wouldn't get their net due.  Some stores might want to control whether or not items on Layaway, should Expire or not -- why penalize the consignor?  :)

There's a new 'Layaway Start Date for Expire' option under Settings > Store > Policies.  This makes it so items on Layaway, won't Expire based on the current date and thus, the consignor can still get their amount owed.  :)

If % Off Coupon Is Added to a Sale, Then An Item Is Removed, Trap % Discount
Previously, if you added items to a sale, then added a % off coupon, THEN removed an item, the percentage off coupon would stay -- thus, the customer is getting more off than they 'deserve' since the total sale is now lower.

Now, if you attempt to remove an item from a sale that already has a % off coupon in it, Peeps will prompt to alert you that items cannot be removed until the coupon is removed.

The 'Print Payout Report' option/checkbox on the Pay Account screen, used to always be checked.  So for stores who didn't want to print this every time, they had to keep un-checking it.

BluePay -- Make the 'OK Amount?' PIN Pad Prompt Optional
For BluePay users, you can now disable the 'Amount OK?' prompt that requires the customer to confirm the amount they're about to be charged.

To disable this prompt, head to Settings > Point of Sale > Credit Cards and un-check the 'PIN Pad Prompt' option.

From then on, as soon as you hit the credit card payment and hit Enter for the Amount, the customer will immediately be prompted to insert/swipe their card -- without having to confirm the dollar amount first.

X-Charge - Option To Require or Not Require ZIP & CVV
For stores still on 'legacy'/older credit card equipment (e.g. a swipe instead of a chip/EMV reader), X-Charge requires a CVV and ZIP Code verification.

Option to Send Cash Payouts To Another Printer
There's a new option to send Cash Payouts to your Lists & Reports printer, instead of to the Check printer.  :)

Under Settings > Printers, when you select the 'Checks' Printer Task, you'll see a new 'Use Report Printer for Cash Payouts' option.

If checked, when a Cash Payout is cut (and this covers all three screens -- Pay Account, Payout Advance, and Pay Accounts (Bulk) -- it will be sent to the printer selected for Lists & Reports.

This is to help stores who cut both Cash and Check payouts, but have a dedicated printer for Checks -- they don't want Cash payouts going to the printer that has Check stock in it.  :)

Ability To Disable Confirmation/Success Prompt When Statusing Items
On the Status Inventory screen, you can now disable the 'Success' prompt that comes up after each item is scanned/statused!  This makes for quicker scanning, so you don't have to hit 'Enter'/click 'OK' after each successful status-change.  :)

To disable this, while on the Status Inventory screen, click the little 'Settings' icon at the top-right and the 'Success' prompt can be un-checked.

From then on out, instead of popping-up a prompt, a little green 'Statused! :)' message appears under the Barcode ID field, so you can see it was a successful status-change.

If Check/Payout Printer Not Selected, Don't "Hard Stop" -- Just Disable Printing
In order to prevent issues that are common in other consignment/resale systems, Peeps' Software is unique and has a proactive prompt to tell you there is no printer selected for Checks/Payouts.

This alert though, would tell you, and then the Check/Payout process would (intentionally) close so you couldn't proceed until a printer was selected.

Under most circumstances, this is good.  Sometimes though -- e.g. a brand new store that doesn't have a printer yet, or a store that never wants to print anything for Checks/Payouts -- you might want to proceed without a printer.

Now, this message comes up to alert you, but lets you proceed on the Pay Account screen.  It does however, disable the print button, as well as the 'Print Payout Report' checkbox.  This way, you can still use the 'Just Pay Now!' button to mark items as paid and then hand-write the check outside of the software.  :)

Barcode 'Nudge' To Move Barcodes Left/Right On Tags
There's a new 'Barcode Nudge' feature!  For some stores, their Barcode IDs can get pretty long (e.g. if they have 100,000 items).

On certain tags, the barcode can be closer to the right-side of the tag, which can lead to it getting cut-off.

The new Barcode Nudge feature, lets you move the Barcodes left/right on each tag.  Head to Settings > Printers > Tag Options and there's a new 'Advanced' button.  Increasing the value for each tag, moves the Barcode to the right.  Decreasing the value, moves it to the left.

Instead of showing both a 'View' and 'Print' button for each report, there is now just a 'View' button.  'Print' was redundant, since you can print within the report itself *and* 99% of the time, you're typically viewing a report before deciding to send it to a printer -- especially if it's a 20+ page report.

Option To Disable Prompt When Closing/Finishing Add Inventory
There's a new option that lets you disable the prompt that comes up when you close/start printing tags on the Add Inventory screen.

By default, this screen asks if you're sure you want to stop adding inventory, but you can now disable this!  Click the settings icon at the top and un-check the 'Prompt When Closing' option.

There's still a safety catch to detect if you're in the middle of entering an item that hasn't been saved yet though -- i.e. if the Category is selected, it'll still prompt to help prevent you from losing an item you were still in the middle of entering.

When viewing a Payout, there's a new 'Assign To Another Station' button.  Clicking this brings-up a list of previously used Payout stations.

Note: If a station has never done a Payout, it will *not* show in this list -- only stations that have done a Payout before, will show in the list of available stations.

The Primary Sales Report, as well as each of the Layaway reports, now show 'Account' info.  This way, you can see if a customer was selected (which would always be the case for a Layaway) and what their Account ID is.

Automatic 'After Sale Email'
There's a new 'POS Follow-up Email' feature!!!  At the NARTS Conference this year, I spoke with a few storeowners who were interested in seeing an automatic email go out to the customer, each time they shopped.

In said email, they were wanting to include things like a link to their Facebook reviews page, or to their Google reviews page.

To enable this new feature, head to Settings > Point of Sale > More...  You can customize the email message by clicking the 'Email Message' button.  There's a basic email outline already in there for you.  :)  You'll notice a <Name> placeholder -- this automatically merges the customer's first name, anywhere the <Name> placeholder appears.  You can use this in both the Subject as well as the Body.  :)

Some notes about this email:

• There must be a customer selected during the sale.
• The customer must have an email address on file.
• The customers 'Email' check-box on their account, must be checked.
• Your email settings must be configured.

If any of the above are not true, Peeps' Software won't attempt to send the email.

Option to Print Layaway Policy to Receipt Printer
You can now choose to print your Layaway Policy to your Receipt printer (instead of the Lists & Reports printer)!

By default, the Layaway Policy will print to a full 8.5" x 11" page.  To use your Receipt printer instead, head to Settings > Store > Policies to edit your Layaway Text.  There's a new option to 'Use Receipt Printer'.

Change 'Net' Column to 'Last Net' for Clarity
On the 'Items' tab within an account, the 'Net' column now shoes 'Last Net'.

I changed this after a store reported an account had earned money for an item that had expired.  The account had in fact *not* earned money and their History tab reflected this -- the item had sold four times and the consignor only earned the first time it sold.

The 'Net' shows the last time a Net amount was earned, but since it just says 'Net', it can appear as though they're earning a Net...until you view their History tab, or pay them out.

Option to Disable Prompt Before Reprinting Receipt from Search Sales
On the Search Sales screen, there's a 'quick access' Reprint Receipt button -- the goal being, so you can quickly reprint a receipt, without having to view the sale first.

When I added this button, I was sensitive to the screen it was on and thought it would be best to have a confirmation before printing, to prevent an accidental print/drawer open.

There's a new Settings icon at the top right, that allows you to disable this confirmation prompt.  :)

I've added a new 'Top Sizes' chart!  Head to Reports > Charts and you'll see the Top Sizes chart available.

'Object Reference' Alert When Printing Primary Sales Report, ONLY If X, Y, Z
Doris @ Attic Fanatic had reported getting the 'Object Reference' alert when doing the Primary Sales Report.  I could never reproduce the issue though.  Even though I knew where/why that alert comes from, nothing about clicking the 'View' button and then printing the report, triggered it.

Found the issue was coming from...they click the 'Print' button.  :)  This button does not reset the From/Through variables, hence the alert.

In v2.13, the 'Print' button is removed and now is just one, larger, 'View/Print' button, to prevent someone from accidentally printing 100 pages vs. viewing the report first.  :)

You can now disable the 'Success' prompt when cutting Payouts.  I like the option being on by default, so you can see a clear notification that your payout was successfully completed.

Option to Set Preferred Payout Type
You can now set your 'Preferred Payout Type'!  I'm still not a big fan of this one -- I've seen stores using other programs run into so many, "Oops!  I meant to cut a Cash Payout, not a Check Payout!" and then have to void, re-pay, etc.

Nonetheless, I do get the need for it under certain conditions *and* it's off by default, so only those who *really* want it, can go and set their Preferred Payout.  :)

This can be set on the Pay Account screen, by clicking the Settings icon.  This is a per-computer setting, since I do have a lot of stores that pay in cash at one station/section of their store, yet pay in check in another section of their store.

This *only* affects the individual Pay Account screen -- not the bulk Pay Acounts screen.

Option to Disable 'Just a Heads-Up...' Prompt When Using 'Just Pay Now' on Pay Account
When cutting a Payout within an account, you'll get a notice if you click the 'Just Pay Now!' button, to alert you that you're going to be paying-out the account, but no Check or Cash Printout will happen.

This notice is to give you a heads-up, so you know you're about to pay the account, but won't get a Check printed or Cash Printout.

I thought it would be nice to make this optional though, so the workflow of the Pay Account screen goes much quicker when you're in the heat of the moment.  :)

So you can now disable this notice, by clicking the Settings icon at the top of the Pay Account screen.

Activity Log Entries for Software Opened & Software Closed
I've added two new Activity Types and log entres to the core Activity Log.

• Software Opened
• Software Closed

While you can already get mobile alerts when the software opens/closes *and* while you can see when an employee logs-in, the only way to see when the software is closed is to A) look at the backup file and B) look in the local text file on the workstation.

So I figured I'd add these to the core log, so they're stored in the database.  :)  Helps storeowners see first-hand, if an employee closed the software *early* one day.  ;)

Print Mailing Label Within An Account
I've added a new 'Printout' on the More... tab within each account!  You can now print individual mailing labels for accounts!

I hadn't had any requests for this, but I've seen stores want to do this in the past with other programs and not be able to do so + it's something that saves you from having to go to Reports to manually print one based on Account ID.  :)

You'll be prompted to ask how many you'd like to print -- I figured I'd provide this vs. forcing you to only be able to print one.  :)

Right-Align Right-Side Elements On Tags/Labels -- e.g. Barcodes
The '2-Across Landcape' tags' barcode wasn't right-aligned.  This resulted in the barcode 'growing' to the right and eventually getting cut-off.

This barcode is now right-aligned, so it grows back to the left.  :)

Also, barcodes can be moved left or right on ALL tags and labels, via Settings > Printers.  ;)

Turn off 'Multi-Select' for Datagridviews on Account Overview Tabs
Multiple rows -- e.g. items, history entries, etc. -- can no longer be selected!  I noticed a few stores selecting multiple rows, which gives the impression "you can do things to just these items" after you right-click.  :)

Until that sort of functionality exists, it's better to disable multi-select on the DGVs.

All other DGVs -- e.g. Search Inventory, Search Accounts, Search Sales, etc. -- already have multi-select off.

You can now print the list of results on the Search Sales screen!  There's a new Print button at the top-right of the screen.  :)  While I was adding this for the Search Accounts and Search Inventory screen, I thought it'd be handy to have on the third and final primary 'search' screen.  :)

Reports > Summary -- Cosmetic/Layout Changes to Totals
I made some cosmetic changes to the 'Summary' group on the Reports tab.  For a variety of factors (e.g. the 'Print' button was at the top-right), I had 'Today's Sales Totals' further down in the list.

When printing this, as well as just *looking* at it, it didn't make much sense to have this 4th on the list.

So 'Today's Sales Totals' has been moved to the top, then 'Sales Entered Today', then 'Items Entered', then 'Accounts Entered', and the rest of the summaries/totals are in their original position.

This is for both the screen itself, as well as the printouts for these.

Search Accounts > Phone # -- Search Improvements
Searching both the Search Accounts and Select Shopper screen by Phone # has been improved!

Previously, the way the search matched against how the phone # is stored in the database, results wouldn't show-up once you typed beyond 6 digits.  This was simply a poor implementation of the DGV search on my part.

This has been handled at the query-level now, so results are matched even when you type in the entire phone # -- e.g. typing 8883745422 will return results for (888) 374-5422.  :)
