Amazon has just released a desktop client for its free online backup service, Amazon Cloud Drive for both Windows and Mac. Decisions, decisions, decisions. So many cloud backup/file sync services, which one to choose!
Cloud Drive functions much like Google Drive and Dropbox. Each of these backup programs provide you with a very simple way to backup your files and to sync them across multiple computers as well. You get one special folder and into that folder, anything you put will be backed-up and synced across your computers. This keeps things very simple, as it’s just one special folder.
What happens if you want to backup more than just one folder? Maybe your My Documents folder, your My Pictures folder, etc. Or even your consignment software’s backup folder. Either way, some of us would like to backup more than just one folder and we don’t want to have to move everything into one special folder in order to achieve a backup + file sync. For a quick, simple backup + file sync, Amazon Cloud Drive looks like a great fit. The benefit of Cloud Drive over Dropbox, is that it comes with 5 GB of storage, as opposed to only 2 GB.
If you’re not backing-up at all or if you can’t say for certain, that your backup plan is solid and understood, then Amazon’s Cloud Drive is a good place to start.
