The “Liberty consignment software is printing tags non-stop and wasting all of our tickets!” call is still one of the most common calls we receive from stores that haven’t converted from Liberty to Peeps’ Software.
By default, Liberty consignment software prints tags for items “1 – 999999” unless you tell it otherwise:
And it’s still the same in Liberty5:
So stores are constantly (accidentally) sending “500 tags” to their tag printer, without realizing it:
Not even a helpful, “Are you sure you want to print 500 tags?” prompt before proceeding.
I’ve seen this approach to software development for years and it’s a reflection on the developer. If you work in or own a consignment store, you know you will never, ever print 999,999 tags and even if you wanted to print 1,000 tags, that’s potentially a HUGE waste of a roll of tags. So as a consignment software developer, it’s a “Day 1” realization that your software should never allow a user to do so — you’re just going to make your own software more complicated and you’re going to increase the number of support calls that come in.
Features like this make Peeps’ Software a low-issue, low-support, easy to use software for consignment and resale stores. Even if you did have 100 items in the batch you’re currently processing, Peeps’ Software automatically halts and confirms you really do want to print 100 tags:
We’ve designed Peeps’ Software to be “low support”, so it doesn’t create issues for you and lets you focus on running your consignment/resale business! 🙂
